District welcomes 2025’s first baby
Baby Jozëlle is one of 15 Sydney Local Health District babies born on New Year’s Day.
Congratulations to Juvena Seow and partner Bryan-David Grigiri on the birth of their daughter Jozëlle.
As Sydney Local Health District’s first baby of 2025, Jozëlle was born by caesarean section at RPA Hospital at 2:06am on 1 January.
She arrived a week earlier than expected and the decision to proceed with surgical birth was made after Juvena spent 24 hours in labour.
“The plan was to have a vaginal delivery, but her head was not in the right position,” said Juvena.
Baby Jozëlle is the couple’s second child. Her name means “a little joy” or “graceful light” said Juvena, a nod to Bryan-David’s French heritage.
Older brother Gaspard was also born at RPA, which swayed the couple’s decision to give birth in the hospital.
Juvena has lots of thanks for the staff who supported her during her labour, surgery and recovery.
“The nurses really took care of me,” she said. “They are wonderful, great and professional. I can rely on them to help me take care of my newborn.”
The District community welcomed a total of 15 babies on the first of January: 12 babies at RPA and three at Canterbury Hospital's Birthing Unit.
RPA Women and Babies has been a leading facility for pregnancy and birth since 1941, with a new private maternity wing opened at the end of 2024.
