Canterbury Hospital Redevelopment

Overview

The NSW Government is investing $350 million in the Canterbury Hospital redevelopment to expand the facility and deliver upgrades to existing infrastructure.

The Canterbury Hospital Redevelopment will be the biggest upgrade of the hospital in 26 years. This redevelopment will ensure the facility is able to respond to the health needs of the growing community and enable our dedicated health staff to deliver high-quality care in the latest facilities.

Project status

The schematic design for Canterbury Hospital Redevelopment is nearing completion; the second step in the three-stage design process. This phase developed the layout of each department in greater detail, building on the initial concepts.

Following this, the project moves into the final stage of design known as detailed design, which finalises the detail of each room and confirms the project scope.

The project will be assessed under a Review of Environmental Factors (REF), with the first REF for early works on public exhibition from 20 November 2025 to 18 December 2025. A second REF for the main works is expected in early 2026.
