Canterbury Hospital Redevelopment

Overview

The NSW Government is investing $350 million in the Canterbury Hospital redevelopment to expand the facility and deliver upgrades to existing infrastructure.

The Canterbury Hospital Redevelopment will be the biggest upgrade of the hospital in 26 years. This redevelopment will ensure the facility is able to respond to the health needs of the growing community and enable our dedicated health staff to deliver high-quality care in the latest facilities.

Project status

Master planning is underway on the Canterbury Hospital Redevelopment to identify key priorities and develop strategies that will define the hospital’s transformation.

The lead design team was appointed in March 2024 and will work with Health Infrastructure and
Sydney Local Health District to determine the key clinical service priorities and progress the planning for the redevelopment.

Help shape your hospital

Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts and ideas in the September 2024 Canterbury Hospital survey. We are reviewing the feedback and look forward to showcasing what we heard in upcoming project communications. Hospital staff, patients and the local community will continue to have the opportunity to have their say on the redevelopment as planning progresses.
