Canterbury Hospital Redevelopment

Overview

The NSW Government is investing $350 million in the Canterbury Hospital redevelopment to expand the facility and deliver upgrades to existing infrastructure.

The Canterbury Hospital Redevelopment will be the biggest upgrade of the hospital in 26 years. This redevelopment will ensure the facility is able to respond to the health needs of the growing community and enable our dedicated health staff to deliver high-quality care in the latest facilities.

Project status

In February 2025, the master plan for the Canterbury Hospital Redevelopment was launched. The master plan identifies key priorities and strategies that will define the hospital’s transformation.

The lead design team will continue to work with Health Infrastructure and Sydney Local Health District to determine the key clinical service priorities to inform the ongoing planning for the redevelopment.

Following completion of the master plan, the project team will continue with detailed planning to inform the concept design for the redevelopment.

The full scope of the project and indicative timing of the works will be finalised during planning and design. Staff, stakeholders, and the community will be updated as the project progresses with further consultation to continue throughout 2025.
