Two District teams win NSW Health Awards

RPA Virtual Hospital Wound Care Command Centre and ANZAC Institute win 2024 awards.

As an award presenter, Deb Willcox AM, District Chief Executive, was on hand to congratulate the winners on their successes.

She said that winning two categories and being finalists in three more categories was a fantastic result for out District.

“These awards are a wonderful achievement for our District, and I am proud of all our finalists. They represent the amazing work our teams do in our hospitals and services every day, making a difference for our patients, consumers and communities,” she said.

Professor Victoria Cogger, Director of the ANZAC Research Institute, said “The Award is fantastic recognition of the dedication the Oral Insulin team have for making treatment options for patients with diabetes safer and more accessible." 

“The technology will help change the lives of more than 30,000 Australians who need to start using insulin each year.”

Dr Michelle Barakat-Johnson, RPA Virtual Hospital Wound Care Command Centre founder and District Clinical Skin Integrity Lead, said she was very proud of what the team had achieved to enhance patient outcomes so far, and this is only the beginning.

“This award showcases what we can achieve in just a year since officially opening, exceeding our targets and changing the lives of patients across the state.”

There were five District finalists in this year’s awards, from community outreach, research, and technology programs and in recognition of volunteer contributions.

NSW Health received 186 nominations across the 12 award categories. The judging panel included consumers, clinicians and executives from across the state. 

Each year, the NSW Health Awards recognise personalised, sustainable, and digitally enabled health programs that deliver positive health outcomes and wellness for the NSW community.
