The Rose Garden is a large formal garden set out in geometric beds and enclosed in part by an established hedge. There is a rose arbour with climbing roses attached and arched entries at several points. Some beds have terracotta edging tiles and gravel pathways alongside. These gardens were thought to be established by Thomas Walker around 1860 and have largely remained unchanged since 1943. Aerial images from 1943 show fuller rose beds with dense planting. The improved maintenance techniques of the time included watering systems, mowers and edgers that promoted the dominance of lawns and rose gardens as elements of general garden design.

The Rose Garden has formed an important part of the establishment planting on the estate.

The Sundial is an important decorative element in the landscaping of the Rose Garden.
