Yaralla House became the hub of Sydney society in the early decades of the twentieth century. Numerous galas, charity events, children’s parties and elite social gatherings took place on the estate. Royal Prince Alfred Hospital assumed management of Yaralla Estate in 1940. Many hospital supplies were provided by the lands at Yaralla. In 1956 a herd of 50 cows supplied 450 gallons of milk daily to RPA, chickens supplied eggs and poultry, and gardens supplied a variety of vegetables. Cut flowers from the gardens and conservatories raised £100 in revenue for the hospital each year.
