The Italian Balustrade is a decorative balustrade and central staircase which forms the main feature of the Italian Garden. It is a symmetrical marble and sandstone design with stone balusters featuring decorative stone urns positioned on posts at regular intervals. Stonemasons from Italy were employed to carve the balustrade, grotto and fountain.

The Italian Balustrade forms the boundary to the garden with steps that lead down to the former tennis court area, today a lawn. The area hosted many parties and social events during Eadith’s residency on the Estate.
