District welcomes Anil Lama at NSW Health Vaccination Centre.

Sydney Local Health District is celebrating a milestone at the NSW Health Vaccination Centre at Sydney Olympic Park.

Aged care worker Anil Lama was the 100,000th person vaccinated at the Centre and got quite the welcome from staff when he arrived for his first vaccination.

Just short of four weeks after opening its doors, NSW's largest vaccination centre has now administered more than 100,000 jabs.

Anil arrived with his wife Puja, an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) at the District's Special Health Accommodation, came along to support her husband.

Puja has already been vaccinated against COVID-19 having the vaccination when it first became available to frontline workers in February.

"It is important for us both to be vaccinated because of our work. We need to make sure we do our part in keeping the community safe.

"I see the devastating effect that COVID-19 has had on my home country in Nepal. We are very lucky to be living in Australia where we can get vaccinated," Anil said.

Deputy Secretary of Patient Experience and System Performance Susan Pearce and the District's Chief Executive Dr Teresa Anderson, along with other staff working at the Centre, presented Anil with a special certificate.

Each day, about 350 staff support the operation of the Centre, drawn from multiple local health districts and government agencies.

"I am proud at how everyone has come together to create such an endeavour to support our community in such a short amount of time," Caren Friend, the Centre's Nurse Manager, said.

The Centre's staff enjoyed a celebration of their own with cupcakes to mark the occasion.

The NSW Health Vaccination Centre is located at 1 Figtree Drive, Sydney Olympic Park and is open from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday.
