Two hospitals in Sydney Local Health District have once again been recognised in Newsweek’s 2025 World’s Best Hospitals list.

RPA Hospital has been ranked first place in hospitals across Australia for the fourth year in a row – and now sits at 62nd in the overall global list which ranks the top 250 hospitals worldwide.

Only six Australian hospitals are included in the global list.

“I’d like to acknowledge the commitment and passion of everyone who works at RPA,” the hospital’s Acting General Manager Hayley Sciuriaga said.

“Their efforts to deliver the best possible care for our patients are truly valued. I am proud to work with such a dedicated group,” she said.

Concord Hospital is ranked at number 23 in hospitals across the country. The hospital was ranked 25th in the 2024 list.

“The dedication and hard work of all staff at Concord makes a difference to our patients every day,” the hospital’s Acting General Manager Anthony Dombkins said.

“I would like to thank everyone for their contribution to providing first-class health care. I am so proud of you all,” he said.

The District's Chief Executive Deb Willcox said the results were well-deserved recognition for staff.

“I would like to thank all our wonderful staff across our District for your dedication to looking after those who need our care each day."

“The results reflect your focus on delivering high-quality compassionate care for our patients, their families and the community,” she said.

The 2025 list ranks more than 2400 hospitals across 30 countries.

The rankings are based on the results of recommendations from medical experts, patient experience survey results, hospital quality metrics and PROMs implementation data.

It’s the seventh time the list has been published.
