Three finalists announced for NSW Premier’s Awards 2023.

Grace Scott is one of Sydney Local Health District’s three finalists for a NSW Premier’s Award.

“I was completely blown away when I was told I was a finalist, when I am just one part of the team at Sydney Local Heath District. It is such an honour to even be nominated,” she said. 

An emerging leader in the health management field, Grace is currently the Acting General Manager at Balmain Hospital.

She is a finalist for an Anthea Kerr Award, which recognises future public sector leaders who are under 35 years of age and exhibit in their work a deep commitment to public sector values and identified leadership potential.

This year’s other two finalists represent unique and innovative health care services that cater for specific needs in our communities.

The team behind RPA Hospital’s Virtual Intensive Care Unit (vICU) is being recognised for an Excellence in Service Delivery Award.

The award celebrates teams who continue to demonstrate the positive contribution they are making for the people of NSW through a range of services.

vICU is a collaborative service between Sydney and Far West Local Health Districts and aims to  design a patient-focused system of specialised care which could, where clinically safe, keep patients on country and in community at Broken Hill.

The service brings supports to staff and critically unstable patients at Broken Hill Hospital by connecting them with specialists at RPA, while also providing educational opportunities for staff in both locations.

Naamuru Parent and Baby Unit team is a finalist in the Highest Quality Healthcare category, which recognises improving services to ensure that everyone has access to world-class healthcare when and where they need it.

Naamuru is the first public mental health unit in the state to offer joint parent-baby admissions for parents experiencing acute mental illness during the perinatal period and also the first ] to offer non-gender specific care and treatment.

The Unit provides holistic, multidisciplinary care in a hospitable  atmosphere, with a trauma-informed, family-focused and inclusive approach to treating parental mental illness, enhancing parenting confidence and promoting the development of healthy attachment. 

District Mental Health Service’s Acting Director of Clinical Services Dr Sylvia Lim-Gibson reflected that “This nomination is a well-deserved recognition, not only for the innovation, but also for the integration of care of the multiple services across the District.”  

The Premier’s Awards highlight and celebrate the world class services delivered by the NSW public sector to the people of NSW.

Winners will be announced in November.
