RPA tops Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals list.

RPA has once again been ranked as the best hospital in Australia in Newsweek's 2023 World’s Best Hospitals list.   

It’s the second year in a row that RPA has claimed the top spot in the country.  

RPA is ranked at number 66 globally, in the list of the top 250 hospitals in the world, a jump from last year when it was ranked at number 71.  

Only seven Australian hospitals are ranked in the top 250 hospitals in the world. 

“I couldn’t be prouder of everyone who works at RPA. Our staff throughout the hospital, regardless of what they do, work tirelessly to provide the very best care to our patients and their families and that’s what’s been reflected with this award. It is an honour to be shared by every member of staff” Kiel Harvey, RPA’s General Manager, said.   

This result is recognition of RPA’s emphasis on patient-centred care, said Kylie Tastula, Nurse Practitioner in Neurosciences at RPA. 

“It is a privilege to come to work in a place that puts the patient at the centre of what we do,” she said. 

“Everyone here works to innovate and drive change but they never lose sight of what’s most important – the people we care for.” 

RPA’s success is down to research and innovation at the hospital coupled with its focus on patients and their carers, added Dr Steve Chadban, Director of Renal Medicine at RPA. 

“Together with our strong culture of education, collaboration, respect and support for all of our staff, I believe we are well placed to continue to provide our patients with the best possible care and world-class outcomes,” he said. 

There was cause for celebration right across Sydney Local Health District as Concord Hospital has also made the list again, ranked at number 29 within Australia.   

Canterbury Hospital is ranked at number 63 within Australia.   

“The results are a recognition of our District’s continued focus on research and innovation which enables us to deliver world-class patient care,” said District Chief Executive Dr Teresa Anderson AM. 

“The results are also a testament to the hard work, dedication and resilience of all our staff who work daily to make a difference for our patients, their families and our community. Congratulations everyone.” 

It’s the fifth time that the list has been published.   

The 2023 list ranks more than 2300 hospitals in 28 countries including the United States, the United Kingdom and in Europe.  

It is based on recommendations from medical experts, patient experience survey results, hospital quality metrics and PROMs implementation data.
