Balmain Hospital’s new General Manager
Greg Nolan appointed to lead Balmain Hospital.
Balmain Hospital has held a special place in the heart of its community since first opening its doors almost 140 years ago.
Now, the hospital is celebrating a new chapter in its history with the appointment of Greg Nolan as its General Manager.
“I’m so proud to be a part of the team at Balmain,” Greg said.
He has worked in Sydney Local Health District for eight years and has been acting as Balmain’s General Manager since January 2022.
Before moving to Balmain, he was Concord Hospital’s Operations Manager, while his other roles have included Manager of Performance Monitoring at Concord and Performance Analysis and Decision Support Officer for the District.
He’s enjoying his latest role.
“It’s been great. I have the support of an excellent executive team and incredible staff so we’re in a strong position,” he said.
The hospital’s General Practice Casualty offers urgent treatment for minor injuries, illnesses and other GP type health problems close to home for residents of Balmain and surrounding areas.
The hospital is also renowned for its Aged Care and Rehabilitation services, where patients benefit from specialised Nursing and Allied Health support.
“Because of its size, you can really spend time getting to know patients and their families – that's probably the best part of what I do,” Greg said.
“My team and I want to ensure that we continue to give the people we see at the hospital great service and the very best care.”
One of Greg’s key priorities is to continue to ensure his staff are supported in their work, enabling them to deliver the best possible care for patients.
“Balmain is a special place because of its tight-knit community of staff. I want to make sure staff know that we’re investing in them and developing them, so they continue to love what they do.”
The District’s Chief Executive, Dr Teresa Anderson congratulated Greg on his appointment.
“With his work ethic, his management skills and his passionate approach to patient care, Greg has established himself as a highly capable health leader,” said Dr Anderson.
“I am certain that Balmain Hospital’s reputation for high-quality patient and family-centered care, and its longstanding connection with the local community, will continue to flourish under his leadership.”
