Gynaecology Research

The Department of Gynaecology is part of Women's Health and Neonatology. It includes the Department of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility. It is the largest public gynaecology unit in NSW providing a broad scope of surgery including general gynaecology, minimally invasive surgery (robotic-assisted and laparoscopic), urogynaecology, and fertility-related surgery. In February 2023, the first uterine transplant procedure at RPA was performed by leading surgeon Dr Anthony Marren.

The Department is currently involved in multiple research studies and the areas of interest include:

  • Robotic surgery for benign gynaecology
  • On-co fertility database
  • Recurrent miscarriage
  • Benign gynaecology databases.
