About
The National Centre for Veterans’ Healthcare or NCVH, provides multidisciplinary outpatient care to current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members for physical and mental health related illness.
The Centre has multiple specialists in one location. Working as a multidisciplinary team, the specialists work together with the patient (or client), their family and carers and primary healthcare providers to create a collaborative recovery team.
History
The National Centre for Veteran’s Healthcare is located in the Rusty Priest Clinical Services Building at Concord Hospital.
Opened in 2022, 80 years after the hospital first opened its doors, the building is named in honour of veteran and former NSW Returned and Services League President Godfrey Eugene "Rusty" Priest. At times a patient at Concord, Rusty was a strong supporter of the hospital and a champion for veterans’ health and wellbeing.
Concord Hospital has a deep connection to the Veteran Community, established in November 1940 as the 113th Australian General Hospital before being transferred to the NSW Health System in 1990.
