Boronia Cottage was constructed a few years after the construction of Yaralla House as accommodation for staff and servants of the estate. It served as the residence of the dairy manager and was located near the dairy complex. It is a single storey, three-bedroom cottage with face brick construction and chimneys, a dominant central gable, a side verandah and concrete roof tiling. The hipped and gable roof is inspired by Arts and Crafts design architecture.
Boronia Cottage was also known as Cottage no 1, Mrs Mead’s Cottage, Dairyman’s Cottage and Maid’s Cottage. It is an important complement to Magnolia Cottage, representing an inter-war bungalow and is one of the few remaining worker’s cottages on the estate.
It forms part of the 20th century group of buildings including the Dairy Complex, Stable Complex, Magnolia Cottage, Pig Enclosure, Chicken and Fowl Enclosure that demonstrate the workings of a farm from this period.
