About this course
This one-day workshop is designed to equip registered nurses and midwives for the role of team leader or in-charge of shift.
Who should attend?
This course is appropriate for any registered nurses or registered midwives with a minimum of 12 months experience.
What will you learn?
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Describe the roles and responsibilities of the nurse or midwife in-charge role
- Apply leadership and communication skills to the role of the nurse or midwife in-charge of shift
- Work with interdisciplinary teams
- Support staff and coordinate shifts
- Manage patient flow systems
- Identify and manage challenging issues and escalation processes
- Describe the value of safety huddles
- Describe the process for coroners’ cases and the management of serious clinical incidents
- Manage high risk patients.
