About this course
This workshop has been designed to provide an opportunity for those of you involved in the care of the orthopaedic patients to enhance your knowledge and skills on prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.
You will acquire the knowledge and skills essential to deliver appropriate and quality nursing care to patients both in the acute and chronic stage of their disease process. Topics include physiotherapy and early mobilisation, procedural and clinical associated skills.
Who should attend?
This course is appropriate for any nurse caring for the orthopaedic patient within our District.
What will you learn?
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Describe the process of formation and healing involved in the musculoskeletal system.
- Develop the knowledge required to apply the appropriate management and care to different types of orthopaedic conditions.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of care planning for patients with orthopaedic conditions.
- Participate as an effective member of the interdisciplinary team through the development and maintenance of an effective communication network with other health professionals, patients/families, staff and the community as appropriate.
- Act as a resource person for other staff members, patients and significant others in the speciality.
