About this course
This course provides you an overview of evidenced based principles and practice in the areas of venous disease management focusing on venous thromboembolism prophylaxis, venous surgery, compression therapy, pain management and lower leg ulceration.
Who should attend?
This course is appropriate for registered nurses, registered midwives, enrolled nurses and allied health professionals working in Sydney Local Health District and South West Sydney Local Health District where management of vascular conditions are relevant to their practice.
What will you learn?
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Outline the assessment and management of venous dysfunction
- Apply venous thromboembolism prophylaxis strategies in a range of clinical scenarios
- Differentiate between leg ulcer aetiologies and specify specific management based on the type of ulcer
- Demonstrate an understanding of the application of graduated compression therapy to lower leg
- Differentiate types of pain in vascular disease and be aware of modalities to address pain in the older person.
