About this course
This course provides you with an up-to-date introduction to vascular nursing, incorporating vascular disease processes, with a focus on anatomy and physiology, and a brief overview of relevant assessments, investigations, and procedures.
Who should attend?
This course is appropriate for registered nurses, registered midwives, enrolled nurses and allied health professionals working in Sydney Local Health District and South West Sydney Local Health District where management of vascular conditions are relevant to their practice.
What will you learn?
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Provide an overview of the vascular system including the arterial, venous and lymphatic systems, the atherosclerotic process, aneurysm formation, chronic venous insufficiency and varicosis
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of invasive and non-invasive vascular testing, and their implications to nursing practice
- Describe and conduct a full assessment of the patient with vascular disorder
- Discuss the pre-operative management of patients with vascular disorders
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the risk factors and the implications to the disease process.
