About this course

Are you wanting to learn the basic skills needed to use a computer, including use of the internet?

This course has been purposely designed for Sydney Local Health District staff who have little or no experience in using computers, so you can learn the essential skills and gain confidence in your ability to use technology.  

Topics covered in this course include using a mouse, logging in, using the Sydney Local Health District Intranet to find essential Human Resources and education, doing a Google search, an overview of Microsoft Office applications Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Word, and Excel. All participants are encouraged to practise on computers in the workshop with support from our skilled trainers.

Who should attend?

Sydney Local Health District staff that have little or no experience working with computers.

What will you learn?

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Become familiar with computer terms
  2. Start and log in to a Sydney Local Health District computer
  3. Identify computer equipment and features
  4. Access the Sydney Local Health District Intranet to locate commonly needed links
  5. Access communication applications: Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams
  6. Access and view Microsoft Word (to create written documents)
  7. Access and view Microsoft Excel (to create spreadsheets for numbers)
  8. Use online help for assistance
