About
Our vision is for all people diagnosed with cancer to live the lives they want, in the best health possible.

The Sydney Cancer Survivorship Centre aims to help survivors at all stages of the cancer journey, by providing access to a multidisciplinary team of professionals to support an individual’s needs following a cancer diagnosis.
We focus on helping people make positive lifestyle changes, including improving their physical activity and nutrition, as well as providing psychological support.
Research is also an important part of what we do at the Sydney Cancer Survivorship Centre. Our aim is to provide good quality evidence to help manage the issues that are important to cancer survivors.
Who is considered a cancer survivor?
You are considered a cancer survivor from the time of diagnosis, through the balance of your life. As cancer survival rates have improved, there is more focus on the quality of the time following treatment for cancer.
Why was the Sydney Cancer Survivorship Centre established?
The Sydney Cancer Survivorship Centre is dedicated to help survivors and families better manage their treatment beyond its acute diagnosis and care.
Many cancer survivors experience changes in physical and emotional well-being. There may be ongoing side effects from treatment that impact on wellness, including fatigue, changes in thinking and memory, or practical concerns around finances and return to work. Many survivors are able to overcome these issues in time, but some continue to have unmet needs including fear of the cancer coming back or progressing.
Friends of the Sydney Cancer Survivorship Centre
The Friends of the Sydney Cancer Survivorship Centre is a dedicated group of cancer survivors and community advocates who collaborate with our Survivorship team. Together, we shape the direction of the Centre and organise fundraising events to support our cause.
All funds raised are used to provide exercise programs and courses for cancer patients, helping them on their journey to recovery.

Fundraising events
Each year, the Sydney Cancer Survivorship Centre hosts two major fundraising events – Step Up for Cancer Survivorship and the Sydney Cancer Survivorship Centre Benefit Concert.
Step Up for Cancer Survivorship
Step Up for Cancer Survivorship returns each June, inviting the community to participate in their favourite physical activities to raise funds for our programs and courses. Whether you walk, run, dance, swim, kayak, play tennis or enjoy any other activity, your participation helps support cancer survivors.
A small registration fee applies, and participants are encouraged to invite friends and family to sponsor them. All funds raised support the free courses at our Survivorship Cottage and the sessions provided by our exercise physiologists at the Survivorship Gym. This event is designed to improve the fitness, strength and quality of life of our cancer survivors.

Sydney Cancer Survivorship Centre Benefit Concert
Every year the Strathfield Symphony Orchestra perform a Benefit Concert with all funds raised going towards the Survivorship Centre.
