LifeLab
LifeLab is an innovative interactive initiative in adolescent health education that utilises scientific exploration to enhance health literacy, foster enthusiasm for health and science studies, and promote future career pathways.
The LifeLab program collaborates with public high schools in Sydney Local Health District, specifically targeting Year 8 science classes. The LifeLab program manager works in partnership with Year 8 science teachers to integrate the LifeLab curriculum into their classes for one school term. This program includes an educational excursion to the Charles Perkins Centre at the University of Sydney.
During the excursion, students engage in a health circuit featuring activities such as CPR training, blood glucose testing, and practice in measuring blood pressure, spirometry, flexibility and more. Additionally, students have the opportunity to interact with scientists and participate in laboratory activities.
