Virtual Care for Acute Diverticulitis

The RPA Virtual Hospital Acute Diverticulitis Service provides virtual care and support for patients with acute diverticulitis at home.

Your appointments with our nurses and doctors will be via video. Using remote monitoring devices, we will regularly review your vital signs like temperature, oxygen levels, heart rate and blood pressure.

What to expect

As a patient, you will receive:

  • Regular video appointments with our nurses to see how you are and to check your vital signs
  • Home visits for antibiotics and blood tests
  • A device called a pulse oximeter to measure your oxygen levels and heart rate
  • A thermometer to measure your temperature
  • A machine to measure your blood pressure
  • Your medications

You will use an app called the ‘Miya Care App’ to help our team monitor your vital signs. If you have trouble downloading or using the app, please call the Virtual Care Centre on 1800 325 065.

24/7 support

You will have access to a nurse in our Virtual Care Centre 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 1800 325 065. Please let us know if you need an interpreter or have special needs such as hearing problems. Psychology and social work services are also available.

All Aboriginal patients are offered cultural support from Aboriginal Health Workers.
