Combined first trimester screening
Combined first trimester screening is an important test that can help us support you and your baby’s health.
What is the Combined First Trimester Screen?
This is an ultrasound screening test which is an important part of early pregnancy care. People having a baby at RPA have this screen when they are between 11 weeks and 13 weeks plus 6 days of pregnancy.
The Combined First Trimester Screen allows us to:
- examine a baby’s developing body structures to check for physical conditions
- screen a baby for the most common chromosomal conditions
- calculate a baby’s risk of developing fetal growth restriction
- calculate a mother’s risk of developing pre-eclampsia
The Combined First Trimester Screen uses information from:
- your health history
- a blood test
- blood pressure, height and weight
- ultrasound
