Where do you work in Sydney Local Health District?

I work in the Centre for STRONG Medicine Service at Concord Hospital.

What do you do?

I’m the STRONG Medicine Service Coordinator and a Senior Exercise Physiologist in the team. We help older adults with chronic disease by combining exercise and diet with geriatrician care to improve our patient’s strength and functions and support them to maintain independence.

Why do you do what you do?

Seeing people benefit from exercise when they have either never exercised or haven’t in 60+ years is rewarding. What we do is proactive; it’s great to help our community prevent disease and disability, not just manage it.

What’s the best thing about your workplace?

We’re a very cohesive team and work together to make sure we're always putting our best foot (or bicep) forward. Also, our patients and their families, it’s wonderful to play a role in helping them to improve their health and quality of life.

What’s the nicest thing a colleague has ever done for you?

I am part of a team where we laugh together, share our stories, trust, support, and enjoy each other's company. Leadership is strong and inclusive, and no tale is too long and no request is too difficult. I wouldn't be anywhere else.
