A Culture of Learning and Growth

Sydney Local Health District’s well-structured training programs are designed to equip Doctors-in-Training with evidence-based knowledge and on-the-job practical skills to launch them into the next phase of their medical careers. The support and expertise of specialty Directors of Training, professional mentoring, education on and off the clinical floor and thorough exam preparation combine to offer JMOs a complete and personalised training experience.

Supportive Workplaces and Networks

Doctors-in-Training are supported to establish a lifelong network of peers within our active medical community. In each clinical setting, Specialists closely supervise our Junior Medical Officers in and after hours. Behind the scenes, medical workforce teams work with Junior Medical Officers on the issues that matter, like advocating for and ensuring paid overtime, best-practice rostering, and the ability to attend formal and informal teaching.

Sydney Local Health District is also the proud home of MDOK, an active program focused on staff health, wellbeing and support. The program is led by our Chief Medical Wellness Officer.

Commitment to Innovation

Our commitment to driving innovation in healthcare makes Sydney Local Health District an employer of choice for future-minded health practitioners. A sustained investment in research and emerging technologies and our longstanding partnership with the University of Sydney has enabled world-leading medical advancement.
