District staff are being encouraged to apply for funding under 2026 NSW Health Sustainable Futures Innovation Fund, which supports practical ideas to  improve patient care while reducing our environmental footprint and strengthening the resilience of our health services.

The District had success in the program in 2023, with RPA physiotherapist Olivia McGuiness receiving $30,000 to examine safe reuse of patients’ home respiratory devices.

Staff interested in applying can review the Fund’s guidelines on the NSW Health website and discuss their proposal with their manager or relevant service leadership. Moneisha McKenzie (Moneisha.Mckenzie@health.nsw.gov.au), Healthcare Sustainability Lead, is available to support staff developing ideas or reviewing draft applications.

Deb Willcox AM, District Chief Executive, said she encouraged applications reflecting the “breadth, creativity and dedication” of the District’s teams.

Draft applications should be submitted to sydneysustainabilityprogram@health.nsw.gov.au by 26 March to allow time for District coordination and endorsement before statewide submission.
