About this course

High-quality feedback is essential for building capability, strengthening engagement, and supporting continuous improvement across teams. In a dynamic health environment, staff rely on clear expectations and timely conversations to grow, adapt, and collaborate effectively.

This one-day course introduces the foundations of effective feedback and provides practical tools leaders can apply immediately. Participants will explore how to build a continuous feedback culture, use the Situation–Behaviour–Impact (SBI) model, and deliver reinforcing, redirecting, mixed, and developmental feedback with clarity and confidence. The course also covers strategies for managing reactions to feedback, overcoming common barriers, and using feedback to strengthen trust and accountability in everyday team interactions.

Who should attend?

Managers, program managers, supervisors, and team leaders.

What will you learn?

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Explain the purpose of feedback and the elements of a continuous feedback culture, including when to use planned, in-the-moment, post-shift, and developmental feedback.
  2. Apply the Situation–Behaviour–Impact (SBI) model and other practical techniques to deliver clear, specific, and timely reinforcing and redirecting feedback.
  3. Recognise barriers and emotional reactions to feedback and adapt your approach to support constructive, respectful, and productive team interactions.
