About this course
This two-day workshop is the intermediate level of the Healthcare Safety and Quality Program, based on the Clinical Excellence Commission program. It covers the fourteen steps of improvement science methodology and actively engages participants in quality improvement activities and projects.
Who should attend?
This course is appropriate for any staff member clinical and non-clinical within Sydney Local Health District.
What will you learn?
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Define and scope a quality improvement project using a range of methodologies and improvement science tools.
- Utilise knowledge and skills to engage a team in quality improvement activities,
- Seek sponsorship
- Develop a specific, measurable, achievable, result orientated, time scheduled (SMART) aim statement
- Create a flow chart of a process
- Brainstorm the ‘causes’ of a problem using ‘post it notes’
- Develop an affinity diagram
- Draw up a driver diagram with drivers, relationship arrows and change ideas
- Design outcome, process and balancing measures
- Develop and prioritise change ideas
- Devise a "plan, do, study, act" cycle
- Collect data and measure impact
- Sustain and spread improvement.
