About this course
This workshop provides you the theoretical and simulated training in the insertion of Implanon NXT.
To be accredited in Implanon NXT insertion, you are required to complete the workshop and related workbook which includes supervised insertions in the workplace.
Accreditation in Implanon insertion ensures you have the skills and knowledge to provide high quality primary care to women in the postnatal period. This workshop is appropriate for beginners and those requiring a refresher.
Who should attend?
Registered Midwives and Obstetric Medical Officers in Sydney Local Health District.
What will you learn?
By the end of this workshop you will be able to:
- Assess suitability of contraceptive implant insertion based on each individual case and medical history.
- Describe information about possible side effects, risks associated and self-care relating to insertion.
- Plan for implant insertion, including collecting equipment and assessing environment suitability.
- Demonstrate clinically safe Implanon insertion competency.
- Problem solve in the case of incorrect insertion.
