About this course
This course accredits midwives to complete comprehensive newborn assessments, supporting midwives to practice fulfilling their scope of practice. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills to complete each component of the comprehensive newborn assessment, including review of the cardiovascular changes in the adaptation to extra uterine life, eye and hip checks, and auscultating the heart and identifying heart murmurs. Referral and consultation guidelines are also covered in the course.
Participants are required to complete the face to face session, self-directed learning package and be assessed on four occasions by an accredited assessor for successful completion of the program.
