About this course

In 2015 the Agency for Clinical Innovation implemented minimum standards for safe procedural sedation as part of a state-wide coordinated approach to support Local Health Districts with a framework to guide education, training and safe clinical practice.

The Sydney Local Health District Safe Procedural Sedation Training Program is a staged education and training program for staff who administer and support procedural sedation. The program supports the development of required capabilities to meet the Agency for Clinical Innovation minimum standards for safe procedural sedation training, assessment and clinical practice requirements.

Who should attend?

This course is appropriate for any non-anaesthetist clinician whose primary responsibility is to monitor the level of consciousness and cardiorespiratory status of the patient.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  1. Meet the Agency for Clinical Innovation safe procedural sedation training and assessment requirements, as it relates to the scope and context of their practice or;
  2. Meet their professional body requirements relating to non-anaesthetist clinician procedural sedation, relevant to the scope and context of their practice
