About this course
This course is a requirement for any nurse working in the resuscitation area of an emergency department. This is a practical course to prepare nurses to care for critically ill patients within the resuscitation area in emergency department.
Topics covered in this practical workshop include complex technical and non-technical skills vital to the care of patients requiring advanced airway, ventilation and circulation management interventions.
This workshop uses simulated resuscitation events to provide participants with the opportunity to practice skills and receive feedback.
Who should attend?
Nurses who have completed the Transition to Emergency Nursing Program and are ready to work in the resuscitation area.
What will you learn?
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Analyse the causative pathophysiology of diseases that can cause clinical deterioration resulting in the need for resuscitation
- Apply advanced patient assessment and clinical skills when managing the critically ill patient in the resuscitation area
- Identify and evaluate blood, X-ray and other tests results pertaining to the care of critically ill patients in the emergency department
