Acute Respiratory Infection Service

You may be referred to the rpavirtual Acute Respiratory Infection Service if you have COVID-19, influenza or an existing respiratory condition that is worsening. 

Your care is provided by nurses and doctors via video consults. Using remote devices, we will regularly monitor your vital signs like temperature, oxygen and heart rate.

What to expect

As a patient, you will receive:

  • important information to keep you safe at home
  • a device called a pulse oximeter to measure your oxygen level and heart rate
  • a thermometer to measure your temperature
  • regular video contact from our nurses to see how you are and to check your vital signs

24/7 support

You will have access to a nurse through our Virtual Care Centre 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 1800 325 065. Please let us know if you need an interpreter or have special needs, for example, hearing problems. Psychology and Social Work Services are also available. 

All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients are offered cultural support from Aboriginal Health Workers.
