Where do you work in Sydney Local Health District?

I work for the Priority Populations Programs Team in Population Health.

What do you do?

My role supports the District to progress LGBTIQ+ inclusion, including the implementation of the NSW LGBTIQ+ Health Strategy 2022-2027. I also support the progression of Men's Health.

Why do you do what you do?

I'm passionate about supporting health professionals to have the skills, knowledge and confidence to provide inclusive care to the LGBTIQ+ community. As a queer trans person, it makes me proud to be part of an organisation that shows leadership and takes action to support the health and wellbeing of the LGBTIQ+ community.

What’s the best thing about your workplace?

Working in Population Health is great because we have such a diverse team that represents so many different cultures and identities. We all embrace and value that about each other. We also do great work to support the health and wellbeing of the diverse members of our community.

What’s the nicest thing a colleague has ever done for you?

A colleague, and now good friend, who I connected with through the Sydney Local Health District LGBTIQ+ Staff and Allies group, recently ordered some Badgie stickers, showing cultural support, to add to their Staff ID badge. They ordered a whole sheet of Tino Rangatiratanga (Māori) flag stickers so I could add one to my badge because they know my Māori culture is so important to me. I think that was really thoughtful.
