Breast screening in Sydney Local Health District

BreastScreen NSW provides free 20-minute screening mammograms to help detect breast cancer early, before it has a chance to spread.

Our aim is to decrease the mortality of breast cancer and encourage women to know the importance of screening.

Regular breast screening (once every two years) is recommended for women aged 50-74. Women aged 40-49 and 75+ are also eligible to attend. Visit Am I Eligible for a Screening Mammogram? to find out where you sit on the breast screening scale.

Our team in Sydney Local Health District are here to support you – from booking your appointment, to completing your mammogram and through the assessment process. Our RPA Hospital Assessment Clinic also provides support for women who are notified of a screening abnormality.

Our qualified multidisciplinary team consists of radiologists, surgeons, breast physicians, radiographers, counsellors and clerical staff. All breast screen appointments are performed by qualified female staff members – you do not need a GP referral to attend.
