Quiet and Reflection Rooms

There are a number of quiet rooms available throughout the hospital, these are located on most levels. These rooms may be used for quiet meditation, prayer or a place to away from the ward to be able to gather your thoughts. Ward staff are able to direct you to the nearest quiet room and ensure that the room is available.

Chaplaincy Services

Chaplains are able to visit you on the ward.  Please ask a member of staff if you require this.

Justice of the Peace

There are many Justices of the Peace (JPs) on staff. If you need the service of a JP, please ask one of the ward staff. Volunteer services also provide Justice of the Peace services, please ask the Concierge at the front entrance.

Bank

There is an ATM inside the hospital foyer (located on Level 5 off Missenden Road).

The Commonwealth Bank, National Australia Bank, Westpac and ANZ all have branches on King Street, Newtown.

Pharmacy

The closest public pharmacy or chemist is in the RPA Main Hospital foyer. There is also a Pharmacy at the RPA Medical Centre on Carillon Avenue. Alternatively, there are pharmacies on King Street and in the Broadway Shopping Centre.

Cafes, restaurants and shopping

Cafeteria

The Jacaranda Café (the hospital cafeteria) has a full range of food and drinks and is situated on level 4 of The Main Hospital building. 

Supermarket

Local supermarkets, stores and eateries are located on Missenden Road, King St, and the Broadway Shopping Centre.

Newsagent 

There is a newsagent at RPA inside the Main Hospital foyer located on Level 5.

Post Office

There is an Australia Post Office located on the corner of Missenden Road and Johns Hopkins Drive (next to the convenience store and Emergency Department). 

Accommodation 

If you live more than 100 kilometres from RPA, you are able to claim some reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs through a government assistance program (IPTAAS - Isolated Patients Travel Assistance Scheme).

Following your discharge, for patients requiring daily medical and/or nursing assistance, accommodation can be arranged at local hospitals including Strathfield Private and Metropolitan Rehabilitation. These accommodation options are offered on a short-term basis.

Accommodation for family, carers and support people can be found at the several hotels and motels within walking distance of RPA. A list of local accommodation options is available here
