Members of Sydney Local Health District’s Diabetes Team marked World Diabetes Day on Friday 14 November with a pop-up promotional stall at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

The theme of World Diabetes Day 2025 was Diabetes in the Workplace and the Diabetes Team set up 220 RPA healthcare staff members with continuous glucose monitors.

It’s hoped this initiative will help build awareness of diabetes technology across the hospital so we can better support our patients in the future, while giving staff valuable insights and motivation for positive health changes.

The team also offered staff and patients Type 2 diabetes risk assessments, including blood glucose and blood pressure measurements.

Globally, 7 in 10 people – or 412 million – living with diabetes are of working age. For millions of employees, diabetes is a daily reality – but in the workplace, it can become a source of stress, stigma, and fear.

The stall highlighted the District’s support for staff and patients living and working with diabetes.

Staff from the Health Promotion Unit were also available on the day to talk to staff and patients about health education and support services such as The Get Healthy Service.

The Get Healthy Service helps people over the age of 16 living in NSW to have better health and wellbeing. It’s completely free and tailored to each person’s needs.

Whether you want to eat healthier, get active, reach a healthy weight, manage your health while living with Type 2 diabetes or cancer, or reduce alcohol, the team is here to support you.
